I am playing skyrim on my pc on the lowest settings did not have a problem then i get to my first major battle and my computer starts to really lag and i can not do any thing about it so what would be better to have a new graphics card or a external hard drive to have more space?What would be better for running skyrim a new graphics card or a external hard drive?

An external hard drive is not going to make much difference unless you have very little free space on your computer and use the HD to store some stuff. A graphics card will make a difference if you have an adequate processor and/or ram. well i'd need to know how much hard drive space you have and the rpm of your hdd but mostly this problem would be a graphics limitation
