How do I become a Rebel in Skyrim?

I got the newest Elder Scrolls: Skyrim game and I want to become a rebel but I don't know how. It's telling me to go to the Jarl of Whiterun and I'm afraid this is leading me to the Imperial path. Help!How do I become a Rebel in Skyrim?
Go to any Hold that is Stormcloak friendly and talk to the stormcloak leader in charge he will tell you "if you know any true son's or daughters of Skyrim tell them to talk to the Jarl of Windhelm" at this point you receive a new quest option. It's very simple. Get on a carriage pay the 50 gold to get a fast travel to Windhelm once there go to the palace and talk to the Jarl Ulfric. Tell Ulfric you want to join the rebellion. The Jarl of Whiterun is whats his name StormCloak. The guy who was in the cart with you at the beginning who was accused of killing the high king. If you want to join the StormCloaks, my wife said she joined at the camp in the Rift but talking to StormCloak himself in Whiterun might work too.How do I become a Rebel in Skyrim?
