How to make the first hours of skyrim more enjoyable?

Because i don't know much about the game, lore, or mechanics, its hard for me to become engaged in skyrim. What could i do to become more immersed and enjoy my first few levels? How to make the first hours of skyrim more enjoyable?
Well in Skyrim you can do pretty much what ever the heck you want. It really just depends on what your into. Shotting arrows? Blasting fire balls? Or just a simple poke with a sword? You'll get use to the controls fairly quickly.

The races you choose from do actually matter despite the looks, when you do choose your race, might I recommend reading their description. Some are better at magic than others, same with stealth and sword fighting. KEEP THIS IN MIND: You can change through out the game when ever you please. You can shoot arrows at first but then you decide you like the idea of magic more. That will not affect the way you level. The way you level is affected on all skills you level. All characters start of with the same health magika and stamina when you begin and each time you level you may choose which one to raise by 10.

Final tip: After the little tutorial go to the shop in Riverwood (should be easy to find), this guy has had his golden claw stolen, you do not need to do this quest right from the get go. So don't do it quite yet, do the main quest line first which will be to go to Whiterun. Keep doing that quest line, they will ask you to go to an ancient ruin place, travel there and you'll find the stone they want along side with the golden claw. NOTE: YOU CAN PRESS "B" AND GO TO MAP AND CLICK ON A DESTINATION YOU HAVE DISCOVERED. You will not need to walk everywhere you go. -GOOD LUCK!
I was p*ssing myself when I looked at the bloody menu. I was so excited.

Just take it slow, get used to the controls and functions, learn the basics of combat, smithing, alchemy, etc.

Do a few simple side quests, talk to some of the townsfolk, read a few books, explore some caves, things like that.

Don't rush through the game, just learn as you go. =)

I played Oblivion for years, but this game took me a few days to get used to most of the things.

Good luck.
the game itself is rather amazing and addictive once you know how to play. at the first see what you want to do and start from there. if there is something you dont know how to do dont stress just look it up the wikipedia on the game is pretty good. i played oblivion for several years and i didnt know how to play this off the bat. figuring out what your good at is the most important part of having it be fun. making money from buying materials making stuff then improving or adventuring. its up to who you are so the people here cant tell you what the best thing to do is except for what they think. How to make the first hours of skyrim more enjoyable?
Explore. Just wander around and see what's out there. There are tons of side stories that are not only entertaining but also provide some good loot, skills and background to the elder scrolls universe.
Plating naked
Being high most likely.
Find a few detours and side quests and pretty much try and do wtf u want
